Artivism
A multidisciplinary research group
Artivism (art with activist qualities), encapsulates artist practices that address social and political issues. Its aim is to engage with marginalised communities through methodologies that place participants at the centre of the creative process. At the heart of this approach is our desire to work at the intersections of social policy, cultural studies, politics, and social theory by providing a platform with political currency.
The Artivism Research Group is a team of multidisciplinary researchers who are seeking to explore the potential of artivism for criminological inquiry. By bringing criminologists and artists together the group seeks to develop a programme of collaborative work considering ‘artivism’ as a means to effect social change.
