Celebrating our Bicentenary

In July 1823 an institution was founded which became the catalyst for an educational revolution in the city of Liverpool.

The Liverpool Mechanics and Apprentices Library evolved into the Mechanics Institute and, through mergers and collaborative partnerships, eventually led to the establishment of Liverpool John Moores University in 1992.

And now, in 2023, we celebrate our 200th anniversary by celebrating our people, our students, our staff and our partners and community, by telling their stories on these webpages.
