My time as a team leader is coming to an end and I can honestly say that the experience has prepared me for third year industry. The knowledge gained is priceless and not just in engineering, it allows us to travel the world, meet new people and push ourselves. I have overcome many obstacles alone and with the team and we were extremely pleased with the result we achieved this summer.
The team
The LJMU Racing Team is made up of talented students from a variety of different degrees and disciplines.
Engineering students help design, build and race the car, but there are also key roles for students from other degree programmes, such as marketing, business and media.
Facilities
LJMU Racing Team have access to some first-class facilities, including a Vehicle Engineering Laboratory. Here students can use the driving simulator that was supplied by Force Dynamics.
The simulator is a research tool and proves particularly useful when evaluating new and emerging 'driver-in-the-loop' technologies in vehicle development. The driving simulator is also used as a training platform for the LJMU Racing Team who model their vehicles and use it to prepare for events.
Students can also use the dyno, which is based in the workshop, to test and map their car in- house.
