Employer’s guide for onboarding Apprentices

The process of applying for a place on an apprenticeship programme is known as ‘onboarding’. The stages outlined on this page detail what Apprentices and Employers need to do to secure a place. Failure to complete any of the stages within the given timescales may delay your start date.

Following these stages is essential to secure funding from the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA). The ESFA is the government body accountable for funding for apprenticeships. They dictate the documentation we collect from Employers and Apprentices before enrolment.

To begin the apprentice onboarding process, you must first be an LJMU-approved employer. If you haven't been approved yet, simply complete our application form to get started.
