Referencing library resources
The author-date Harvard style of referencing is the main type used at LJMU. Harvard Cite Them Right has now replaced the previous Harvard LJMU style. Support for Harvard LJMU will continue for any students who expect to complete their studies by September 2025, after which support for this style will be withdrawn.
Cite Them Right is an online resource covering different referencing styles used at LJMU, including Harvard, OSCOLA and APA. It includes online tutorials and a ‘You try’ function to practice your style. If you are off-campus you will need to sign in using your LJMU username@ljmu.ac.uk and password.
More information about referencing is available via our Library Skills Canvas course and in the online learning platform Skills for Study.

EndNote Online is a web-based version which helps you to reference effectively and is suitable for all types of assignments.
EndNote Desktop is a software version that includes smart features to manage dissertations/theses and large research projects. It is available to be downloaded for home-use.
