International Relations and Politics staff and research
Our research community in International Relations and Politics brings together specialists whose work spans global regions, international political dynamics, and the ways societies mobilise and engage with change.
We combine deep regional expertise - including African, American, British, Chinese, Eastern European, Latin American and Nordic politics - with a strong focus on international engagement, exploring issues such as security, ethnicity, gender, war and peace, and decolonising approaches to global politics. Alongside this, our researchers examine how societies mobilise and create change through nationalism, cultural politics, protest movements, environmental activism and reconciliation.
We also lead the International Studies Working Group within the Liverpool Centre for Cultural, Social and Political Research (LCCSPR), through which we actively engage with the wider research community and bring cutting-edge research conversations closer to our students.
Together, our work reflects a commitment to understanding politics from multiple perspectives and to producing research that engages critically with the world.
