LiRICS's research networks

The Liverpool Research Institute for Climate and Sustainability (LiRICS) builds on the critical mass of high-quality research and impact across the LJMU faculties in the domains of sustainability and climate action:

  • 60+ staff from eight schools generating 150+ publications (2020-2023), with 80% reaching the top 10% of their respective fields, and 55% reaching the top 5% (in terms of worldwide prominence percentiles).
  • LJMU publications are above the world average in 17 of the top 20 topic areas (85%). (Source: SciVal).
  • Colleagues generated £4.6m in research grants (2020-2023).
  • There are/were 32 doctoral students who are registered for, or have completed, a PhD in a sustainability or climate change related research topic (2020-2023).
  • 50+ colleagues already contributing to the establishment of LiRICS.
