Advocacy services
Access to advocacy services
Advocates and refugee community organisations can increase health awareness. An advocate might help an asylum seeker or refugee to access the information he/she needs or go with him/her to meetings or interviews in a supportive role. He/she may want his/her advocate to write letters on his/her behalf, or speak for him/her in situations where he/she does not feel able to speak for him/herself. Local authorities fund advocacy services in their area. To find an advocacy service, contact your local council (opens in a new tab).
