Enrolment information
What you need to know about enrolling at LJMU
Following your official nomination from your home institution you will be contacted by the Global Opportunities Team via email. We will provide you with the information to register at LJMU, confirm, visa information, guidance on LJMU services including accommodation and student welfare. We will also confirm which LJMU School you will be part of while with us and assign you a dedicated LJMU academic contact, called an International Mobility Coordinator (IMC). This colleague will provide you with the support you require to select your modules and any other subject-related queries prior to arrival and during your studies with us. They can also sign any Learning Agreement and other documents your home institution requires you to complete.

How to select Modules
As an exchange student at LJMU, you should enrol in 60 credits per semester, which is the equivalent to 30 ECTS or 15 USA credits. We will allocate a student to a specific school based on the nomination subject provided by your home institution and we ask that where possible you select your modules from within your allocated LJMU school. If you want to select modules from outside this school, then it may be possible for one to be outside, but this is dependent upon availability and timetabling and is the decision of allocated IMC.
Exchange students usually select level 5 (second year of a 3-year degree) modules at undergraduate level, but you can select across level 4 and 6, but we must have your home institution's permission. For undergraduate students wishing to enrol on any postgraduate modules, then you will need approval for this from your IMC at LJMU, as you may not meet the prerequisite requirements to do this.
If you are studying at LJMU for semester 1 only and cannot attend the exams in January, you will be offered alternative assessments instead of exams. Please make your IMC aware of this during orientation.
For LJMU Faculty and School information please see the Faculty webpages.
