Sally-Ann Starkey, Senior Lecturer (LJMU Sport and Exercise Sciences) within the sport and nutrition related suite of programmes (Sport and Nutrition for Health, Nutrition and Sport Nutrition)
Sally-Ann teaches on a number of modules across both the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within the centre, with a specific focus on physical activity, health and research methods.
Sally-Ann has previously worked within the voluntary, private and public sectors in a range of public health, physical activity promotion and health improvement roles.
She has an interest in community engagement, especially in relation to the motivations and barriers towards physical activity participation within various settings, populations and client group’s.

Programme coordinator and leader for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes: BSc. (Hons) Sport and Nutrition for Health (2014-17); MA Sport Development Management postgraduate programme (2011-17).
Teaches on modules with a specific focus re: physical activity, health improvement, strategic ad operational intervention design and research methods. Module leader for 5469SSLN; 6111SSLN; 5001SPS and 5007SPS.

Sally-Ann as over 20 years experience of working within the voluntary, private and public sectors in a range of public health, physical activity promotion and health improvement roles.
She has:
Led in the strategic planning, development, implementation and evaluation of an effective primary and secondary prevention health improvement programmes and associated intervention relating to the major risk factors of physical inactivity, diet and nutrition.
Managed and been responsible for health improvement programmes and related interventions e.g. Walk for Health, Cycle for Health, Five a day, Shape-up, community based cardiac rehabilitation physical activity programme
Been responsible for securing and managing programme related budget, staff and volunteers (>£900 K).
Worked collaboratively with and to provide public health leadership to neighbourhood services, community groups, cardiac rehabilitation and other agencies (e.g. local prisons and schools) to reduce local health inequalities and to attain objectives and targets on a local, citywide and national basis.
