Our research
We’re behind the big science headlines
The breadth of our scientific research is reflected in the results of our submissions to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 (the system that assesses the quality of research in UK higher education institutions). The School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, for example, are ranked equal 11th and designated as the top ranked academic department outside of the Russell Group Universities (an association of 24 British public research universities).
