Professor Joanne Butt (Professor of Sport Psychology, Sport and Exercise Sciences) is an academic member of staff with teaching duties. Joanne is a Registered Sport and Exercise Psychologist (HCPC) and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (AFBPsS). Joanne is Deputy Chair of the Training and Standards Partnership Committee for the Division of Sport & Exercise Psychology (BPS). Joanne’s research is typically focused on performance psychology, including pressure and performance, mental toughness, youth sport and developing athletes, and sport psychology interventions. Joanne provides consultancy to a variety of athletes (e.g., golf, tennis, football, hockey) and health-related business organisations, and was an Accredited psychologist at the London 2012 Olympic Games with GB Women’s Volleyball. Joanne is currently working with British Equestrian Federation as a sport psychologist and also on their rider-development research and youth coaching programme. Joanne is currently an Associate Editor of the Journal of Sport Psychology in Action and supervises post-graduate research students in addition to trainee sport psychologists (Stage 2 training, BPS). Joanne teaches on a variety of sport psychology modules including Developing Professional Practice and supervises MSc placement students.
