Our Low Carbon Eco-Innovatory creates innovative low carbon goods, processes and services through partnerships with businesses in the Liverpool City Region.
Our researchers, academic staff and students have worked with hundreds of businesses to identify and create environmental and economic benefits.
Our innovative Forest School welcomes primary schools from across the region to help young children engage with nature, appreciate our environment and learn more about the great outdoors.
This initiative also enables our trainee teachers to develop their skills in an outdoor environment.
We also want our communities to benefit from our estates developments and from having LJMU as a neighbour. We work with community groups to ensure they can access public spaces and take part in specific community projects.
Research from LJMU is used by other organisations in the Liverpool City Region and beyond to help shape policy and decision-making.
For example, an LJMU-led initiative to put nature at the centre of planning policy has been embedded in the Liverpool City Region’s Spatial Development Strategy.
This key work created a register of environmental assets – such as green spaces, water and air quality – to help inform decision-making and ensure that developments in the city region are sustainable and protect and enhance the local environment.
