Disability Sport and Physical Activity (DisSPA) Network
Bringing together researchers, practitioners, and communities, the DisSPA Network is dedicated to advancing disability sport and physical activity. The purpose of the network is to foster Research, Collaboration, and Engagement that drives progress and inclusion across the sector.
DisSPA objectives
Research
The network aims to be a catalyst for research by:
- Building strong research relationships
- Sharing research opportunities with potential collaborators and participants
- Supporting the development of novel, world-leading research
- Shaping research agendas within and across the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences
Collaboration
Collaboration is central to the DisSPA Network. We aim to:
- Formalise partnerships with external organisations
- Create new connections with a range of sector partners
- Leverage the broad research expertise within our university to create collaborations across different academic disciplines
Engagement
Our public engagement activities will combine research and collaboration to deliver meaningful events that:
- Support the development of evidence-informed practice in the sector
- Improve access to sport and physical activity for local schools, students, and disabled individuals
