Our specialities and research
Leading Law School within the University Alliance.
In the most recent Research Excellence Framework (2014) 97% of the School of Law's research was rated as internationally excellent (3*) or internationally recognised (2*). We were also rated as the leading Law School within the University Alliance, a group of 24 leading universities. We are continuing to invest in our key research areas and also in our research staff, knowing this will help us attain even higher ratings.
In addition to our research, another key speciality of our School is our success at student competitions. Recently, our teams have secured some remarkable achievements at a host of prestigious national and international competitions. Our talented teams were crowned winners of the International Student Team Mediation Competition (Dubai, 2013) and champions in the National ESU/Essex Courts Chambers Mooting competition (London, 2014).
Finally, the School of Law also provides innovative legal pro bono initiatives and our Legal Advice Centre has recently been shortlisted for two categories within theLawWorks and Attorney General Student Pro Bono Awards 2015.
