With two Premier League teams and a host of professional clubs, more than 40 golf courses, a watersports centre, wake park and an international tennis tournament, we are serious about competing in Liverpool. Merseyside is the golfing capital of England – boasting more than 40 courses, seven of which are leading championship venues. We also have world champions training in our city, from the fields of gymnastics, boxing, athletics and more.

Our School of Sport and Exercise Sciences is a research-informed department which houses the Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences (RISES). Our research in Sport and Exercise Sciences is ranked 2nd in the UK for research quality power, with 100% of the research environment assessed as world-leading. Overall, 90% of research in Sport and Exercise Sciences is classed as world-leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021). The School of Sport and Exercise Sciences is ranked 6th for Sports Science (QS World University Rankings 2024).
