About your course
Level 6 (undergraduate), 20 credits
We recognise that while you may already have considerable experience as a paramedic, you may also need and want further academic recognition to enhance your practice and future-proof yourself for emerging roles. This is an exciting opportunity for existing practicing HCPC registered Paramedics to build and develop your knowledge, professionalism and research skills required to enhance your current and future practice. This programme will help you to achieve the high standard expected of today's professional, enabling you to deliver high quality patient care.
Providers of paramedic education in the UK are required to prepare learners to work anywhere in the UK and across health care settings. Practice Education is an important part of your role as a registrant and this programme offers guidance on this critical component of the education and development of the learners that you will support in practice.
Students will be working in practice and therefore will be part time but will be supported by the programme lead throughout. They will have access to all areas of the university as per full time students. The students will have access to online material to support their learning.
The syllabus will cover the following areas:
- Principles of learning, teaching, assessment and accountability
- Communication methods and working relationships with students/registrants and the inter-professional team
- Tripartite relationships/learning agreements
- Clinical mentorship/practice education and facilitation of learner support
- Developing the clinical learning environment
- Competence-based assessment in the practice setting
- The development of effective roles and positive relationships within urgent and emergency care teams

This module creates the underpinning academic skills and knowledge for the degree programme. Designed to enable students to engage with module content and learning activities throughout the rest of the programme, in terms of content and assessments.
Marketing

Economics

Using practical examples, students will gain confidence to be able to use financial modelling skills using Excel; preparingfinancial statements that include profit, cashflow and forecast budgets.

The aim of this module is to develop a critical understanding of key factors relating to the effective management of people and processes in order to achieve positive organisational outcomes.Students will evaluate the process of managing people, and the dynamics of team management. They will also analyse how individual differences can motivate and manage people and teams to deliver organisational performance.

Students will explore, from the perspective of the non-analyst, how organisations make use of statistical data and information in order to inform decision-making. They will beintroduced to basic concepts of contemporary data analysis using appropriate data visualisation techniques, to illustrate and articulate how modern companies are using business intelligence to solve old problems in new ways. It will introduce students to the novel approaches that are revolutionizing the way business management is done (Big Data, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence).

Students will develop and justify a relevant, original and feasible research topic. They will rigorously investigate an issue from the business management discipline, conducting independent primary research and demonstrate the ability to manipulate and present data in a suitable format.
Business Consultancy

This module allows students to work on a real-world client brief, to develop an understanding of business problems and issues and applying key academic theories and models in the development of a solution that meets the clients needs. In addition students will reflect on their personal development and consider next steps post-graduation.
Your Learning Experience
Excellent facilities and learning resources
This is an online module, running for 14 weeks with 200 hours of total learning time provided using a blended model utilising: lectures, reflective discussions, virtual learning environment, workbooks and tutorials.

Assessment varies depending on the modules you choose, but will usually include a combination of exams and coursework.
The Level 6 Practice Education for Paramedics Module is assessed via a reflective portfolio of 4500 words equivalent.

Fees
The fees quoted above cover registration, tuition, supervision, assessment and examinations as well as library membership and student IT support with access to printed, multimedia and digital resources including programme-appropriate software and on campus Wi-Fi.

In addition to fees, students should also keep in mind the cost of:
