I am a Senior Lecturer in Social Work and Health and Social Care at Liverpool John Moores University. I am a registered qualified social worker with a background in social work, latterly specialising in the area of fostering and adoption. I am an independent member of a fostering panel.
My involvement in social work education spans over 30 years. My teaching interests are around research methodology, participation and co-production, and anti-oppressive practice and personal and professional development.
My research interests and publications have been around engagement, inclusion, participation and access of minoritised groups within social work and social work education. I am passionate about participatory action and intersectional and decolonial approaches to research, and have evaluated both large national and small community-based projects in a range of organisations.
My current research interests include a collaborative funded research project focusing on the experiences of Black social work students and practitioners within a social work context.
I am currently studying on the Doctor of Education (EdD) programme at Liverpool John Moores University and am interested in researching intersectional experiences of race, class and gender within a Higher Education context.
