Pat Clarke

Nursing and Advanced Practice

Faculty of Health

Pat has a wealth of experience as a healthcare professional from experience in acute care to substantial experience in the community since qualifying in 1987.
Pat undertook her general nurse training in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Following registration she undertook her first position in a care of the older person setting. She then took up a position on a general medicine ward which mainly specialised in diabetes.
Having a passion to work in a community setting, she undertook further training to become a health visitor. It was during her role as a health visitor that she became interested in learning more about safeguarding and professional practice.
Following this she then undertook a role in training as professional development nurse and realised her passion in education.
Since working as a senior lecturer at LJMU Pat has taught across the pre registration nursing programme as well as teaching post registration students.
She leads a CPD module on safeguarding.

I am a senior fellow with the Higher Education Academy.
I am a reviewer for Nurse Education in Practice
