Dr Thomas Phillips joined LJMU's Law School in August 2018. He teaches on a variety of modules across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including Public Law, Public International Law, Democracy & Human Rights, and Criminal Law. Prior to joining LJMU, Thomas was a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Liverpool, where he taught undergraduate Public Law and Criminal Law.
Thomas has a particular interest in the rights of Kurdish populations residing in Turkey, Iraq and Syria. He has spoken on that subject at several conferences, including the first ever international conference held at the University of Sulaimani in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. He has also published scholarly work on the subject in edited books and international journals. More broadly, Thomas' research interests lie in the fields of Human Rights Law, Public International Law, and Minority Rights.
