Professor Adam Shore is the Director of Liverpool Business School and has worked at LJMU since January 2018. Previously he was an Associate Professor and Director of Learning and Teaching for the School of Management at Swansea University having taught within the Business School for over 10 years.
Adam’s role as the head of the business school is wide-reaching, having responsibility for student experience, teaching enhancement, internationalisation, and the promotion of high-quality research and enterprise. Adam is passionate about the student experience and is a strong advocate of student voice, partnership and co-creation.
In 2004 Adam co-founded Dynamic Rock climbing centre, and drew upon this experience to develop a suite of modules in the area or entrepreneurship and business start-up, with a focus on authentic assessment methods. This continued real-world experience helps to inform his teaching and leadership style, promoting an entrepreneurial culture.
His research interests are in entrepreneurial learning, with a focus on grief and the impact this has on the ability of the individual to learn from mistakes. With a background in actuarial statistics, he uses a mixed methods approach to studying entrepreneurial phenomena.
Adam was awarded Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in 2021. He was Chair of the Chartered Association of Business Schools’ Learning, Teaching and Student Experience committee from March 2022 until August 2023. He was subsequently elected to Council of the Chartered ABS in November 2023.
Adam was amongst the first in the country to become a Certified Management and Business Educator (CMBE) and now serves on the CMBE Professional Standards Board.
Adam was appointed as a Board Director for the National Centre for Entrepreneurship in Education in August 2019. In February 2021, Adam was appointed to the Northwest leadership board of Business in the Community.
In August 2023, he was conferred a Professorship in Management Education.
