I am an experienced former Merseyside Police Officer having joined the service in 1986. During the early stages of my career I worked in a number of uniformed roles and then within the Wirral Youth Justice Team developing reparation orders and managing conditional cautions.
I later qualified as an Investigator and undertook roles as a Detective Constable and then Detective Sergeant within the specialist areas of child and vulnerable adult protection and domestic violence. During this time I conducted and led a number of complex investigations including historical sexual abuse investigations and developed numerous multiagency relationships to promote safeguarding.
I was then promoted to the role of neighborhood Inspector in the Toxteth area of Liverpool South. During this time I worked closely with community leaders and policing teams, developing strong working relationships with both statutory and non-statutory agencies.
In 2011 I was promoted Chief Inspector in the Liverpool South area and developed a number of responses in consultation with the community to local policing issues.
In 2012 I developed and led strategic team developing the attendance management and performance strategy across the force.
In 2013 I became the Chief Inspector in the Merseyside Police firearms department, working closely with other North West Forces and internal policing teams to ensure both an operational and strategic response to the firearms threat across Merseyside.
In 2015, I successfully completed a Master of Science degree in police leadership at Liverpool Hope University. During the course of this study I undertook exploratory analysis into the relationship between organisational culture and the retention of female firearms officers within Merseyside Police Firearms Department.
After retiring from Merseyside Police in 2016, I undertook my level 3 qualification in teaching and learning and I am presently working towards my PGCert (Academic Practice) with LJMU.
In 2016 I set up a consultancy business and am currently an Associate Trainer with a company specialising in building social capital, participatory budgeting and community consultation. To date I have completed many consultation events with a number of Police Forces around subjects of drugs and alcohol and organised crime.
I became a Sessional Lecturer with LJMU in 2017 and was formally appointed as a Lecturer in the Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies in 2018.
In 2020 I graduated with my PGCERT (TLHE) qualification with LJMU.
