'Reverse Big Ideas'

40 speakers and guests attended an event in LJMU’s Education Building last week to discuss the themes of policing, community and criminal justice. Those attending were welcomed to the event by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Arts, Professional and Social Studies, Professor Joe Yates. 

Speakers included Lorna Brookes, Founder of Time Matters UK, who presented best practice on how to keep children in mind during the arrest of a parent and LJMU graduate Constable Adam Glinister, Merseyside Police, who shared some of the barriers that migrant females face when reporting crime to the police in a domestic and sex worker setting. Emma Murray and Lucia Arias from LJMU/FACT also showcased their joint project between the two organisations, using art in prisons.  

The event was part of LJMU’s Reverse Big Ideas event which invites community groups and guest speakers to take the lead and share how their interaction with LJMU’s teaching and research is enhancing community partnerships.
