ActiveSync is a Microsoft service for syncing your Email, Calendar and Contacts to mobile devices like phones & tablets. It is supported by nearly all phone manufacturers. Whatever your device, it is likely you will be able to support this – depending on the wording used it might refer to adding a Microsoft Exchange / ActiveSync or EAS (Exchange ActiveSync Server) account.

LJMU provide an Activesync server for all users – this is free, there is no cost for you to use this so you can synchronise your email, calendar and contacts from anywhere in the world.

If you have a big list of addresses & phone numbers in Outlook or on your phone already, ActiveSync is a great way of getting these and keeping them safely so you will never lose any important mobile numbers.

Microsoft are offering Office 365 on up to 5 devices (PC/Mac/Smartphone/Tablet). This service offers access to Microsoft's online Office applications suite, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
