Canvas Profile and Settings (Student Guide)

You can add or update your profile by following the 'Edit Profile picture' guidance on Canvas's help pages.

We use pronouns to identify or refer to somebody when we are not using their name… “They”, “Them”, “She”, “Her”, “He”, “Him”, are some examples. You can change your personal pronouns in the account section in Canvas. Personal pronouns display after your name in various areas in Canvas, including:

• Comment Fields

• Discussions

• Inbox

• People Page (Course and Groups)

• User Navigation Menu

• User Profile Page

• User Settings Page

You can now add the phonetic pronunciation of your name to your Canvas profile.  It allows you to provide a clear and accurate representation of how your name should be pronounced, making it easier for others to address you correctly

• Head to the ‘account’ section in Canvas and access your profile. Use the menu on the right to ‘edit profile’. Enter the desired phoenetic name pronunciation in the Name Pronunciation field:
  
• Once saved, the name pronunciation displays on your profile page.
