Website and Database Hosting

IT Services offer two types of Website and Database Hosting. These are for LJMU purposes only.

• Microsoft SQL Server and IIS
• LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL and PHP)

These facilities are Enterprise grade, highly available services served from the University’s resilient datacentres. Features offered include:

• Both data and servers are replicated across both LJMU’s data centres providing business continuity
• Frequent backups
• Replicated backups minimising data loss in the event of a major disaster such as a fire
• Networked services available from anywhere (you can decide whether they can be accessed from outside the University)
• Ability to restrict access to specified (University) users
• Not subject to the same hazards of theft, loss or damage as local drives.
